Welcome

16th December 2001 was a great day in a little pub by the name of “Happy Hour” that lies on the out-skirts of the town known as Tiscali who inherited it on their take over of Lineone.

In early December 2001 I was chatting to Tickettyboo (AKA Boo) about what we could do down the pub to celebrate Christmas.  Boo came up with the idea of a charity Christmas concert.  Everybody could have a turn on stage to do a party piece, anything would do as long as it entertained.  Would it ever work?  You bet your last Rolo it worked.

As the memory faded, it was time to make sure that the contributions were preserved for posterity and a place created to go to when real life starts getting in the way of fun.

The Concert lasted the 24 hours and  Boo’s chosen charity was Shelter.  Boo promised to pay £0.15 for every party piece.   How many party pieces?  Who knows.  The definition of that got a little hazy as the night went on.   Boo settled for a £50 donation and I know lots of others donated.

Shelter is a great cause, especially at Christmas, but that was a by-product of 24 hours of fun the likes of which may never be repeated.

Including anyone who posted under different names, there were 49 people who joined in, in one way or another. 708 posts were made and the 30,000th post to Tiscali’s Happy Hour forum was reached during the concert.

My thanks go to pmj, Swig and Tickettyboo for giving the concert pages the once over back in 2002 and finding the odd error.  There is no truth in the rumour spread by Boo that the errors were funnier than the posts.

Oh…Who am I?  I’m Madasu or Mad for short, you may meet my close friend Milton your travels.

This way to the concert (……btw skipping the comments will mean you will miss quite a few gems)
